Acceptable Use Policy
What this is for
We sell temporary access to phone numbers so people can receive verification messages. There are good reasons to want that: keeping a personal number off a marketing list, testing software you are building, registering for a service in a country where you have no SIM, or simply not handing your real number to a company you do not trust.
There are also bad reasons, and this policy is about those. It is not a formality. We act on it.
What you must not do
Fraud and deception. You must not use our numbers to obtain money, goods, credit or services by deception, to launder money, or to take part in any scheme intended to defraud a person or a business.
Impersonation. You must not use our numbers to pretend to be someone else, whether a real person, a business or an official body, or to create accounts in another person's name.
Getting around a restriction. You must not use our numbers to bypass a suspension, ban or block that a platform has placed on you, or to create accounts on a service that has told you not to.
Harming a person. You must not use our numbers to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate or abuse anyone, or to help someone else do so. You must not use them in connection with the exploitation or endangerment of children, in any form.
Bulk abuse. You must not use our numbers to create accounts at scale for spam, for manipulation of reviews, ratings, votes or engagement metrics, or for the operation of bot networks.
Illegality. You must not use the service for anything illegal under Nigerian law, or under the law where you are, or to obtain access to goods or services that are illegal there.
Reselling. You must not resell or redistribute access to our numbers without a written agreement with us.
Attacking the service. You must not attempt to bypass our rate limits, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or interfere with the service for other customers.
Reporting a vulnerability
If you find a security problem, tell us on WhatsApp at +234 818 402 7055 before disclosing it publicly. We will not pursue you for a good faith report that does not access other customers' data.
Reporting abuse
If one of our numbers has been used against you or your platform, contact us at [email protected] with the number and the approximate time. We keep enough records to identify the account, and we will act.
What happens if you breach this
Depending on what happened, one or more of the following:
- Suspension of your account while we look into it.
- Closure of your account, with remaining credits forfeited, under section 9 of the Terms.
- Disclosure to law enforcement, where we are required to or where there is a serious risk to a person.
We do not give warnings for fraud, for impersonation, or for anything involving harm to a person.
What we will and will not tell you
If we suspend or close your account we will tell you that we have, and broadly why. We may not tell you the specifics. Doing so can help someone work out how to avoid detection next time, and we may also be legally constrained.
A note on judgement
We are aware that some of the above overlaps with ordinary, legitimate use. Someone registering a second account on a marketplace is not usually committing fraud. Someone using a virtual number because they do not want to give a company their real one is doing exactly what the service is for.
We look at what was actually done and who was actually harmed. A platform's terms of service being broken is a matter between you and that platform. A person being defrauded or harassed is a matter for us.
